J

JAMAL. The son of Stalker and his wife Lydia, born some time after the G.I. Joe team was shut down in 1994. After Stalker joined the reinstated Joe team in 2001, he and his family moved into residential quarters near the Joes' base of operations at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. (GIv2 6; FL 15; AE 20)

JANE, "G.I.". A former U.S. Army nurse who served with the original G.I. Joe team during the 1960s. After her time with G.I. Joe, Jane went back to school for her doctorate in a physics, and eventually began working in the field of laser weaponry. She led a team of scientists in the development of a power laser weapon for the government's top secret Strategic Defense Initiative installation hidden in New York City's Chrysler Building. Joseph Colton -- the original G.I. Joe -- had long since retired, but became head of security for the installation. In 1988, the SDI facility came under attack by a large number of Cobra Vipers. The current G.I. Joe team sent a group to assist in the defense of the laser. Colton met Hawk, the Joe team's commander and together they fought off Cobra's attack. Hawk was so impressed by Colton's leadership in the situation, he made him an honorary member of the team. Joe was so amused by Hawk's offer that he revealed his and Jane's true identities. Years later, Cobra again attempted to take control of the SDI building. Joe and Jane teamed up with the G.I. Joe team once again and used portable battle copters to fight off the terrorists. Cobra managed to fire off one shot with the laser, which was only used to destroy a ship running drugs into their town of Broca Beach. Years later, after the Joe team was reinstated, General Colton came out of retirement to help the Joes by filling in as their commanding officer in the absense of Hawk, who was shot by Cobra Commander and lay in a hospital bed, paralyzed. Jane joined him, having all ready helped set up the communications equipment at the team's new headquarters. (GI 86, 127; GIv2 34; FL 4; AE 19; Figure: 1)

JANE. One of a group of terrorists who robbed the main American P.X. in Frankfurt, West Germany. Jane was described by authorities as "a dilletante revolutionary, just along for the ride". They took several hostages, who were later exchanged for Lady Jaye, Scarlett and Jinx, all posing as local hospital nurses. The terrorists tried to escape to the airport in an armored car. They were stopped after the Joe team commandeered a streetcar and the hostages fought back. During a struggle, Jane was on the recieving end of a kick to the face from Jinx. (SM 11)

JUAN. A leader of a group of Sierra Gordan terrorists known as the Menshevikistas. The group threatened to blow up the Cobra Consulate in New York if Cobra did not withdraw its support of Sierra Gordo's current government. Juan and the other surviving terrorists failed and were arrested. Their current status is unknown.(SM 7)

JULIUS. One of ten clones created by Dr. Mindbender when trying to create Serpentor. The ten young clones would grow at a slower rate than normal, and Mindbender nearly abandoned them once he perfected the process to create the mature clone that became Serpentor, but instead placed them in stasis and left them alive unbeknownst to Cobra Commander. Each clone was the amalgamation of history's greatest soldiers. After the defeat of Cobra in the 1995, the U.S. government raided Mindbender's secret lab on Cobra Island and recovered the clone children. They were place in foster care until Serpentor and Dr. Mindbender gathered them in secrecy. Julius -- named for Julius Caesar -- was adopted by the Taber family. As a team of Joes was investigating Julius' abduction, the came upon another missing boy -- Alexander -- who was identical to Julius. The boys' older "brother" Hannibal helped them escape. The young clones all had a kind of psychic connection to each other. All the children joined Serpentor on Cobra Island during a battle between his forces and Cobra and G.I. Joe. After the battle, Julius and the other boys were again placed in the care of the government. (GIv2 16, 22-25)
