- In his first appearance, Cobra Commander kidnaps a U.S. scientist.

"My dear Dr. Burkhart -- you will soon see the distinct advantages of having no scruples whatsoever!"
 
 

- The Commander takes a shot at General Flagg while using a girl scout troop as cover.

"But you are weak, Flagg -- and I am strong!"

- The Commander, as treacherous as ever, hires Major Bludd to kill Destro and shoots Hawk in the back.

"He's a despicable bootlicker. Everything that Destro isn't. And that's why he must destroy Destro for me."

- The Commander tries to assassinate Serpentor upon his arrival on Cobra Island. He fails, and then is blackmailed by Serpentor into giving up his power.

"Take your arm off my shoulder or I'll have you shot!"
 

- Angry over Serpentor's bid for power, C.C. personally leads an invasion of the Pit. The base is destroyed, leaving he and Destro trapped and presumed dead.

"These are my troops! They signed on with Cobra while I was commander! If anybody is going to lead them into danger or glory it's going to be me!"
 

- After escaping the Pit with Destro, a disguised Commander discovers his son Billy is in a coma and -- with tears in his eyes -- vows to be a good father to him.

"I should have loved him better. How can he ever forgive me?"
 

- When he decides to give up Cobra for the sake of his son, Cobra Commander is shot in the back by Fred VII. He is presumed dead and Fred will pose as the true C.C. for years.

"I've messed up my son's life, my own life and the life of countless others. That's it. I want out..."
 

- Stories told by Zartan, Billy and the Commander's former wife explain the details and motives behind the death of the Hard Master and the founding of Cobra.

"Big Business and Big Government want to stamp out the little guy like me! But I'll show them! I'll show them all!"
 

- Cobra Commander returns, years after his supposed death. He exacts revenge on his enemies in Cobra and retakes control of the organization.

"This is sweet! Now I have all of my worst enemies in my power! I can make them all die! Who said, life is not fair?"
 

- The Commander invades and takes over Borovia, and callously guns down the nation's unarmed leaders. He uses mind control to bring Destro and Zartan back under his influence.
