- In his first full appearance, Destro leads a squad of Cobra troops attacking the Joes.

- Presumed dead, Destro and Cobra Commander go on the run and discover Billy is still alive.

- Destro returns, leading his new Iron Grenadiers, and gets involved in Sierra Gordo's revolution.

- Destro leads his troops into the Cobra Island civil war on his own side, complicating Cobra's and G.I. Joe's war effort. 

- Destro proves his respect for Hawk when he clears the general's name when he and the Joes are arrested.

- Fred VII's forces attack Castle Destro, but Destro is the victor and takes over the leadership of Cobra.

"It was the only choice for a man with integrity."

- With the help of Chuckles, Zartan and Billy, Destro goes on the run with a price on his head, thanks to Cobra Commander.
