Issue #1: "Operation: Lady Doomsday"

- Hawk leads the Joes on a mission to rescue Dr. Burkhart from Cobra.

"We're soldiers...our job is to follow orders...to do the impossible -- and make it look easy."


 Issue #4: "Operation: Wingfield"

- Hawk and Grunt infiltrate the training camp of a para-military group lead by Vance Wingfield.

 
Issue #16: "Night Attack"

- During a battle against Cobra in Washington, DC, Hawk fights Destro on the back of a moving HISS tank and gets shot.
 
 
 


 Issue #45: "In Search of Candy"

- General Austin turns command over to Hawk and promotes him to Brigadier General.

"I'm impressed Hawk! You're almost as nasty as I am!"

 
Issue #47: "Sea Duel"

- Hawk personally leads a mission to rescue Snake-Eyes off the coast of Cobra Island.
 
"The Joes take care of their own. If it was me on that island, Snake-Eyes would do the same."

 Issue #53: "Pitfall!"

- Hawk and other high-ranking officers defend The Pit against Cobra and must destroy the Joes' HQ.

"Sir... the price is always too high."
 

 
Issue #70: "Fair Trade"

- Hawk and a small team of Joes escort a U.S. ambassador through the war-torn jungles of Sierra Gordo.

 


 Issue #74: "Alliance of Convenience"

- Hawk commands the early stages of the G.I. Joe team's invasion of Cobra Island during Cobra's civil war.
 
 
 
Vol 2, #32: "Players and Pawns, Pt. 5"

- During a battle, Hawk is shot in the back by Cobra Commander (later revealed to be Zartan) and left paralyzed.

 

 Vol 2, #33: "The Road Less Travelled"

- Drifting in and out of consciousness, fighting for his life, Hawk dreams of his fianceé that died years ago.
