 ADMIRAL DYSON. A veteran Navy officer, Dyson was one of the small group of officers sent to the Pit to investigate the Joe team's failure during the Battle of Springfield, along with Army General Hollingsworth and Marine General Ryan. Dyson was a thoughtful, cautious man who was willing to give Hawk the benefit of the doubt. He was known for passing on a number of old Navy sayings in situations that called for them. Ryan disagreed with the Admiral often, believing him to be an indecisive "old fool" and even cowardly at times. When Cobra forces invaded the Pit, Ryan was proved wrong when Dyson attacked a Battle Android Trooper wired with explosives. He deliberately set off the explosives, sacrificing his life to save the other officers.
