 FAOUD (Benzheen). The leader of the rebel group the People's Resistance of Benzheen. Faoud and his followers captured a G.I. Joe armored vehicle team during the Battle of Benzheen. In that operation, the Joes were allied with the country's Emir to rid Benzheen of Cobra forces. Faoud wanted to get rid of Cobra and oust the Emir, to establish "a socialist fundamentalist quasi-theocracy based on the teachings of our sect, which is better than the Emir's sect." Besides that, Faoud admitted he wanted to be the leader once the Emir was gone. The Joes' recon team rescued their teammates and captured Faoud. During a struggle, Faoud managed to get hold of a gun and was about to shoot Stalker when the newest Joe, Cool Breeze, pushed Stalker out of the way and was shot himself. Snake-Eyes opened fire and killed Faoud. Cool Breeze died moments later.
