PATHFINDER. The code name used by U.S. Army Staff Sergeant William V. Iannotti. Born in Key West, Florida, Pathfinder spent much of his time in the alligator-infested swamps in the area, learning survival skills at a young age. His father had plenty of experience in survival, himself a decorated Korean War reconnaissance specialist, and taught his son everything he knew before. Before enlisting, Pathfinder already knew how to make trails where there were none, detect unnatural jungle sounds and sneak up on unsuspecting targets. After enlistment, he quickly became one of the Army's top jungle warfare and recon specialist. Pathfinder joined the G.I. Joe team on a number missions before the team was shut down in 1994. Years later, Pathfinder joined the reinstated Joe team in its battle against the forces of a revived Serpentor on Cobra Island.
