 RAMPART. The code name used by U.S. Navy Petty Officer (3rd class) Dwayne A. Felix. Growing up in New York City, Rampart spent much of his time playing video games in the arcade and at home. He mastered every video game he could play, and developed amazing hand-eye coordination. He decided the military was the best place to put his talents to good use and joined the Navy. Specialing in air defense artillery, Rampart attained the highest combat success ratio in the 7th Fleet for "splashing" enemy aircraft. Rampart eventually joined the G.I. Joe team, where he served during the Battle of Benzheen when the Joe team invaded the desert nation in their biggest operation to date. Rampart served on a number of classified missions for the Joes until the team was shut down in 1994. He later joined the reinstated G.I. Joe team years later. On what would be his final mission, Rampart joined Glenda and Hardball on an investigation of a Cobra training outpost in Brazil. When the team arrived at the outpost, they found the Cobra agents inside had been killed. The group then stumbled upon the killers, operatives of the mysterious Red Shadows. Rampart and his companions were then killed as well, the first victims of the Red Shadows' campaign against G.I. Joe. The Red Shadows' plans were eventually defeated.
