F.A.N.G. Cobra's "fully armed negator gyro-copter" is a small single-pilot helicopter armed with a 20mm grenade launcher that carries one hundred rounds, and a complement of four landing strut mounted, short-range air-to-air missiles. It can reach a top speed of 175 miles per hour. The helicopter's most serious design flaw is it's open cockpit, leaving the pilot easily exposed to enemy fire. The G.I. Joe team first encountered FANGs as part of Cobra's air support following a battle in Washington, DC. Even when other versions of the FANG arrived, the original model continued to be a major part of Cobra's air forces for many years, up through the Battle of Benzheen.
