H.A.L. The G.I. Joe team's "Heavy Artillery Laser", the HAL is a large, rotating, laser cannon. It could be towed into battle by another vehicle, and was controlled by a seated operator. The HAL was primarily operated by Grand Slam during some of the Joes' earliest missions, including the rescue of Dr. Adele Burkhart from a Caribbean island controlled by Cobra. That specific HAL was lost in an explosion that destroyed Cobra's fort. Another was destroyed when a group of Joes dropped the cannon down an elevator shaft to destroy a Cobra robot that infiltrated Joe headquarters. Other missions for the HAL included the defense of a space shuttle launch and the battle against Cobra forces along the Alaskan oil pipeline.
