 POLITICAL OFFICER AMAN. The political officer assigned to a military unit in Trucial Abysmia on the East Coast of North Africa. Aman was a part of Trucial Abysmia's new Marxist government. His enthusiasm for his work came from his self-centered quest for power, not from his patriotic zeal as he would have others believe. Aman often clashed with the unit's commander, Captain Yusif. The G.I. Joe members Dusty, Outback, Lightfoot and Mangler were captured by Aman's unit when the Joes were on a training mission for Lightfoot and Mangler. Determined to find out why the Joes were in Trucial Abysmia, Aman beat and tortured Lightfoot until he revealed the Joes plan, despite Yusif's attempts to stop him. He left the Joes in the desert, ordering Yusif to kill them. The Joes got away and destroyed a nearby weapons cache, completing their mission. Aman's inept command allowed the Joes to escape after Mangler died to give the Joes time to get away. After the escape, Aman told Yusif that "the bureaucrats at headquarters will have our heads over this." Yusif pointed out that since Aman had accepted total responsibility for finding the Joes and the cache, only he would be held responsible for the Joes escape. Aman's current status is unknown.
