CHOMO-LUNGMA. Chomo-Lungma is an ancient kingdom in the Himalayan mountains. The kingdom is also home of the legendary "Valley of Eternal Mist." The kingdom was established in its capitol of Daufugai, and remained independent until it was made a protectorate of the People's Republic of China. Chomo-Lungma was unwilling to turn to communism and the people fought off the Chinese army. In 1972, the C.I.A. sent Agent Cullen Esterhazy to the tiny kingdom to aid the Chomo-Lungman Resistance. Esterhazy was carrying out his mission when President Richard Nixon opened U.S. relations with communist China. Soon afterward, Esterhazy's mission was cancelled, and he was ordered to return home. Esterhazy never contacted the C.I.A. and stayed in Chomo-Lungma to assist the resistance, becoming its leader, known as the "White Devil from Virginia."

Twenty years later, the United States discovered Esterhazy was still alive and sent C.I.A. Agent Anderson and the G.I. Joe team's Chuckles, Iceberg, Scarlett and Snake-Eyes to retrieve Esterhazy. The Joes were unaware that Anderson had been ordered to kill Esterhazy. When the local Chinese army officer, Colonel Peng, discovered that Esterhazy still lived, he captured the Abbot of the Hidden Monastery hoping to draw out the "White Devil." The Joes helped rescue the abbot, but Esterhazy was killed during the battle that ensued. Moved by Chomo-Lungma's plight, Anderson decided to stay behind and take Esterhazy's place as the leader of the resistance. There has been no known U.S. contact with Chomo-Lungma since the Joes left Anderson and returned home.
