1982After completing her work for the United States "Doomsday" project, scientist Dr. Adele Burkhart has a change of heart, and begins to speak out against this top secret military project.

The Pentagon decides to expand the G.I. Joe team after learning that Cobra's secret headquarters is somewhere in the United States. Wild Bill and Doc are assigned to the team -- after working with the Joes in the past -- along with Snow Job and Airborne. A member is also added from each of the armed forces: Gung-Ho (Marine Corps), Torpedo (Navy) and Ace (Air Force)

James McCullen Destro, owner of MARS -- Military Armaments Research Syndicate -- becomes Cobra's main weapons supplier. Cobra Commander also hires Destro on as a military advisor.

 In the wake of the assassination attempt against Cobra Commander, the town of Springfield is effectively "shut down" while an investigation takes place.

 Flint is added to the G.I. Joe team on the recommendation of Duke. Footloose also joins the team.

The prime minister of Frusenland purchases several Terror-Dromes from Cobra, though his nation has little use for the launch bases.

  Snake-Eyes and Scarlett formulate a plan to rescue Stalker, Quick Kick and Snow Job from the Borovian gulag. They contact the Blind Master who will meet them in Grenada while the pair vacation with Flint and Lady Jaye.
