Captain Grid-Iron

 CAPTAIN GRID-IRON. The code name used by U.S. Army Captain Terrence Lydon, born in Evergreen Park, Illinois. Lydon was the quarterback of the West Point football team, and later graduated in the top ten of his class. He passed up an appointment to the U.S. Army War College for an infantry assignment, and was eventually assigned to the G.I. Joe team. He took part in a number of missions for the team, including defending Pit III from an attack led by Cobra Commander. Today, like many Joes, Captain Grid-Iron is a reserve member of of the team. He was stationed in Sudan during the conflict known as World War III.
