MAJOR ALTITUDE. The code name used by U.S. Army Warrant Officer Robert D. Owens, born in Rumford, Rhode Island. From the time he was eleven years old, Major Altitude dreamed of joining the G.I. Joe team. Setting out to do just that, he eventually enlisted and after graduating Aviator School and Flight Warrant Officer School, and finally served as Battle Copter pilot for the G.I. Joe team before it was shut down in 1994. In addition to his piloting skills, Major Altitude is a aircraft fuselage art designer. Today, like many Joes, he is a reserve member of the team. He was assigned to G.I. Joe's quick reaction force during the conflict known as World War III.

One of many Joes listed on World War III member assignment map first seen in AE #28.

Major Altitude is a separate character from the Joe simply named "Altitude".
