six-wheeled missle-launching

A.G.P.
The Anti-Gravity Pods are small, low-flying
aircraft
designed by Destro's Military Armament Research Syndicate and used by
his
personal army, the Iron Grenadiers. The A.G.P. was armed with two
missiles
and a 106mm recoilless cannon. The vehicle's primary pilots were the
Nullifiers.
Destro used A.G.P.s in his invasion of Cobra Island during the Cobra
Civil
War. He also defended his castle in Scotland with A.G.P.s when
Cobra launched an invasion of his family's land. A new version of
the AGP was used to kidnap Scarlett and Snake-Eyes during the Joes'
attack
on the Dreadnok compound in Florida. (GI

| AIR CHARIOT. A small one-man hover vehicle built by Dr.
Mindbender, the air chariot was decorated in a snake theme and given to
the newly-created Serpentor. The pilot stood while operating the craft,
which was armed with two 7.62mm "Strike" attack guns. The vehicle was
actually rarely used by the Cobra Emperor. Years later, a new version
of the air chariot was used by the revived Serpentor while commanding
his army, The Coil. (GI 52; GIv2 22) |
| AIR COMMANDO
GLIDER. Military recon hang
gliders that were armed with machine guns mounted on top. The Air

APC.
A G.I. Joe vehicle known as the Amphibious Personnel Carrier. The APC
is
partially armored and is armed with a 105mm automatic cannon. The APC
can
also be used on water and can carry over 20 soldiers. The APC was used
by the Joes in many operations for several years. After the U.S. Army
discontinued
use of the vehicles, several surplus APCs were sold to the army of
Wolkekuckuckland
as part of an agreement between the two countries. (GI

| ARBCO STAR. The Arbco Star
was a sunken freighter that was actually a base for Cobra operations.
The
Star served as a Cobra base when the G.I. Joe team was tricked into
aggravating
a fault line. This caused the creation of Cobra Island. The land-locked
freighter served for a short time as a base on the island until a more
permanent headquarters could be built. The Star served as headquarters
for Serpentor's forces during the Cobra civil war. Cobra Commander
later buried the freighter under a volcano on the island, trapping many
of his enemies inside. The vessel was later reopened, and several
bodies were found, though a number of those trapped inside had since
escaped. (GI 40, 41, 73-76, 98) |
| ARBCO VALDEZ. The Arbco
Valdez
was an disguised oil tanker that actually served as a base for Cobra
operations. (GI 116) |
| ARMADILLO.
A small, one-man
tank built
for high speed and maneuverability. The vehicle, primarily used by the
G.I. Joe team, had less powerful armaments then a full-sized tank and
was
used as a light assault vehicle in areas where anything larger would be
inappropriate. It was armed with four 60mm synchronized,
variable-range cluster cannons. The Armadillo was first used by the
Joes during a battle
with Cobra forces at the Arbco Brothers Circus near Staten Island. (GI

| ARMOR-BOT. An armored vehicle
that is essentially
large, robotic battle armor. It included rocket guns, a laser rifle and a six-shot arm cannon. Operated by a single soldier, the
Armor-Bots
were used by the G.I. Joe team's Star Brigade and the former October
Guard
during a space operation to stop an asteroid from colliding with the
Earth. (GI 146-148) |
ASP.
The ASP, or Assault System Pod, is a mobile artillery weapon used by
Cobra.
A towed vehicle, the ASP has room for one operator. It has an armament
of two 76mm anti-tank cannons and has the ability to rotate 360 degrees
and elevate to 90 degrees at high speeds. ASPs were widely used as
defensive
weapons at Cobra installations, including Cobra Island. A number of
ASP's were later modified to become Python Patrol ASPs. (GI 36, 41, 49, 64, 74, 75, 88, 111,
115; OB 4;
SM 2) |
| ASSAULT QUAD. A
four wheel drive all-terrain vehicle used by the reinstated G.I. Joe
team. The Assault Quad can reach maximum speeds of 85 mph road and 60
mph cross-country. It features modular mission-specific weapons pods,
including two 7.62mm machine guns and ten bay box missile launchers
with short-range surface-to-surface fragmentation missiles. It also
carries a hidden grill-launched incendiary missile. (BF 3) |
A.W.E.
STRIKER. A small, lightly armored jeep used by the G.I. Joe
team. The All Weather & Environment vehicle is designed like a
"dune
buggy" and is one of the fastest and most manueverable land vehicle the
Army uses. It is armed with a modified 7.62mm 6-barrelled Minigun. The
gun is aimed with a laser target designator mounted on the vehicle's
dashboard.
The vehicle was first used during a training exercise for new members
of
the G.I. Joe team. The exercise also served as a test for the
A.W.E.
Striker, which was driven by Crankcase. Strikers served the team for
years
in many battles including the invasion of the Cobra-controlled town of
Springfield and the Cobra Island civil war, during which a Striker
served
as Hawk's command vehicle. After the U.S. Army discontinued widespread
use of the vehicles, several surplus A.W.E. Strikers were sold to the
army
of Wolkekuckuckland as part of an agreement between the two countries.
Crankcase's A.W.E. Striker was destroyed shortly before the Battle of
Benzheen
when a Joe strike force was captured by Cobra soldiers. (GI
